The most frequently asked question, "How does the bus system work for AMP?"
First of all, it's a great service provided by the transportation department, your school, and the Center. Second, it's easy to take care of the logistics for your child(ren). How it works:
If your child will be absent on an AMP day, please complete the AMP Absence/Change Form found here in the AMP & miniAMP Resources section of our site, here, and under the "Contact Us" section of our website. Information from this completed form is directed to all faculty and administrators so we know not to expect your child on the bus that day. If your child is expected on the bus and does not arrive, we first call the school to make sure your child was actually placed on the bus, or, more likely, if they went home early and the AMP Schedule Change Form was not completed. Center faculty follow up with additional phone calls until a firm answer to child's whereabouts can be determined. Because the transfer between school, bus, and the Music Center is seamless and always supervised by adults, it usually only takes a minute or two to find needed answers. Parents completing the Absence/Change Form alleviates any of this investigative work and is appreciated by all involved.
AMP Preplanning is well under way. Forms and fees are now due.
It's coming... a great option for students during the Decatur Fall Break
September 9-13 9 am to 4 pm (drop off starts at 8 am, pick up by 5:30 pm)
The CMC Decatur American Roots & Folk Music Camp will focus on great American tunes, melody stories, rhythmic poetry, and music-related folk art. We've designed the program to be the perfect blend of legitimate training and immersion in a rich musical tradition and good old-fashioned fun. Elementary school age students are invited to join us for a full week or come on one or more selected days via the Music School Day Pass. Activities will include lessons, classes, singing, and ensemble playing with Center faculty and fellow students. We'll cap the week off with a Jamboree and Chili Dinner at the Center, Friday, September 13 at 4:45 pm.
