Information, announcements, tools, and more for Afterschool Music Program (AMP and mini-AMP) parents and students
Now is the time for current AMP students to confirm summer and fall 2013 plans. For your convenience, we've created a simple form for you to communicate your intentions with us.
Because of the limited number of spaces available in AMP, the deadline for completing the fall portion of the form is April 15. If you complete the form on or before April 15, we will certainly be able to set your schedule according to your request for AMP in the fall. After April 15, AMP enrollment days will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, meaning we will hold a spot for your student, but may or may not be able to meet your schedule request.
Summer choices can be completed using this form; alternatively, if you have not determined summer plans, this portion of the form can be completed at a later time.

Under the guidance of CMC faculty, students and faculty spend the week singing, playing, and studying jazz, blues and rock tunes.
On behalf of the CMC Atlanta faculty, I would like to wish your family a happy and restful holiday season. As a reminder, AMP will close and reopen, as follows:
See you in 2013!
Diana
Over the next few weeks, we're adding a variety of new information and tools to the AMP Spot. This week, we're introducing the EveryDay Sing Stream.
Singing is a great thing. Everyone can and should sing. For young musicians, not only is it fun and apparently natural (have you ever met someone who doesn't or never did sing?), but good teachers know that singing also provides a vehicle for covering multiple areas of skill and concept development. Students develop their ear and their minds: melodic and harmonic patterns, tuning, blending, rhythm, articulation, feel, emotion, words. It's pretty remarkable thing, how much we learn from singing.
If you're like me, you can't believe your eyes: Thanksgiving is on the verge of sacking you. (Wasn't Halloween just a few days ago?)
Public schools are closed Monday through Friday the week of Thanksgiving, so yes, of course, we'll be hosting a Day Camp to meet the needs of our busy families. Elementary school age students are invited to join us for lessons, classes, singing, and ensemble playing with Center faculty and fellow students.
It's hard to believe it, but the election is almost here! City of Decatur and Atlanta Public Schools are going to be closed.

Last spring, the CMC faculty determined that we needed a new, more effective means for communicating with parents and tracking students. We had outgrown the methods we'd used when we had just a single Center in Little 5 Points. A new and improved website = a stronger, better AMP.
AMP Preplanning is well underway, and we need all parents to download and complete the AMP Participation Form and to fill out the AMP Preplanning Form below (if you haven't already).
On behalf of all faculty, Phil and I would like to welcome you to the Afterschool Music Program. It's hard to believe how fast summer flies by! We're looking forward to a year of great music-making and music experiences with all of our AMP enrollees and families. We're very grateful for the opportunity to serve you.
