Projects
Whereas Programs are decidedly curricular activities developed and implemented by the Music Center's Faculty and Administration, Projects are the vehicle for the Center to engage with the wider community. Projects typically rely heavily on collaboration with other people and organizations. We design them not only to bring added community resources and opportunities to the Center for the benefit of faculty, students, and community participants, but also to provide the means for students and others to engage with Center faculty and programs.
For example, through our Visual Art Project, we exhibit art throughout our facilities. We work with galleries, curators, and local artists directly to provide local and regional artists a unique opportunity to exhibit and sell their work in our facilities. With more than 500 students, faculty, and guests visiting the Music Centers per week, over 15,000 square feet of indoor exhibition space and added opportunities for outdoor installations, we offer a platform many artists deem to be desirable.
Through our Community Outreach Projects, we provide music education where there are needs and interests, but not resources. For example, we donate faculty instruction for the orchestra program at Grady High School in Atlanta. Likewise, we offer free lessons to immigrants and war refugees through the Center for Pan Asian Community Services and Global Village School, respectively.
We are a group of musicians actively engaged with the community and eager to forge relationships and programs that enrich individual and community life.
