Our Educational Platforms

It's sometimes called the city day-school model:  we balance in-house and off-site opportunities for our students, using neighborhood resources to meet our educational objectives.Music Center students meet with instructors regularly in our own inspiring and well-equipped facilities, but we also use local and regional resources and venues (where developmentally appropriate) to enhance the educational experience.  For example, students in our Jazz Department meet regularly at one of the Music Centers for Studio Lessons, CMP Courses and Workshops, and combo rehearsals; however, performances take place not only in informal Salons on-site, but also, when students are ready, in any number of local venues.  Twain's Billiards & Tap, the Five Spot, local galleries, coffee shops, theaters, recital halls, neighborhood festivals work together to provide fertile grounds for cultivating an authentic musical practice.

We also collaborate with schools and other organizations to enrich music education at their facilities.  For example, members of our string faculty regularly go to Grady High School to teach students in the the Grady High School Orchestra.  Likewise, each summer, Music Center faculty design teach courses at the Atlanta Ballet's Summer Intensives in their Buckhead, Cobb, and/or Midtown Centres for Dance Education.
