Virginia Stapleton, Voice Faculty
Virginia Stapleton earned her Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in Vocal Performance from the College of Charleston, where she studied with Robert Taylor. She has most recently earned her Certification for Music Education through Georgia State University, where she studied choral methods and techniques with Lynn Couch and Patrick Freer. Through the Georgia State Music Certification Program, Virginia taught chorus, music theory, music history and musical theater at Ridgeview Middle School in Dunwoody and Dekalb School of the Arts in Dekalb County. Independently, she interned at the vocal program of the Paideia School, where she substitutes regularly. In addition to her experience with middle and high school students, Virginia has held the position of Music Director at Glenn School for Young Children (at Glenn Memorial Church on the campus of Emory University), and has coached Jr. High voice students in preparation for All State Choir.
Virginia is a vocalist who started singing and acting at a young age in the Atlanta communities of Paideia School and Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church. Her choral studies began with the Atlanta Young Singers of Callenwalde, Glenn Church children's choirs and Paideia elementary choirs. As a young actor, Virginia studied with the Alliance Theater and performed in at least two musicals a year, produced by community, school and church theater programs. As a high-school vocalist, Virginia collaborated with two respected local soprano performers, Beverly Blouin and Kate Murray, for voice coaching. Virginia believes that comprehensive musicianship can be achieved through the study of voice, music history, and music theory, preparing students to not only perform music but understand, appreciate and seek enriching musical expriances for a lifetime.
