Sam LoBue, Trombone/Euphonium Faculty
Sam LoBue holds a Master's degree in Euphonium Performance at Georgia State University, where he studied with world-renowned soloist Adam Frey. Before coming to Atlanta, he received undergraduate degrees in both music and business from Furman University in Greenville, SC, where he studied with Mark Britt. He developed a love for chamber music while studying at the university level, performing in various settings including brass quintets, tuba euphonium quartets, trombone quartets, and jazz combos.A euphonium player at heart, Sam also doubles on trombone in order to stay busy as a freelancer. He performs with a variety of groups, including The Georgia Brass Band, Newberry Jam, The Brass Standard, JAWS, The Nice Guise, and Mercury Orkestar; the groups range in styles from funk/rock and Gypsy klezmer to hip hop and traditional classical music. Being active in a wide array of musical styles allows Sam to have a unique perspective on musical collaboration and teaching. In his spare time, he plays guitar and fishes.

Jonathan Swygert, Trumpet Faculty
Jonathan Swygert received his Bachelor's Degree from Northwestern University and Master's Degree from the University of Tennessee, both in trumpet performance. While at Northwestern, he performed with the faculty in groups such as Symphony Two, which is comprised of members of the Lyric Opera Orchestra of Chicago. At the University of Tennessee, he taught applied trumpet to undergraduate music majors, performed with the faculty brass quintet, and coordinated and conducted the University of Tennessee Trumpet Ensemble.
Mr. Swygert has performed, recorded, and toured with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. He can be heard on the Grammy award-winning recording of the Berlioz Requiem from 2003 (Telarc Cd-80627). He has also performed with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet and members of the ASOBQ. He currently performs as principal trumpet of the Gainesville Symphony Orchestra. As a teacher, he enjoys teaching at all levels from beginner to collegiate majors. Jonathan is also on the faculty of Mercer University, where he has been Professor of Trumpet since 2006.
